Nice chocolate treat. These are very cakey. More like a chocolate snack cake than a brownie in my opinion, but tasty. I used French chocolate squares that were sweetened so I cut the sugar down to 1 cup. I actually used 1/2 sugar and 1/2 splenda. I used olive oil and my applesauce was berry applesauce that I was trying to use up. I left off the powdered sugar as I felt it didn't need it. A nice, quick, snack cake that would make an easy addition to lunch boxes.
