This recipe is very tasty and is so much better than my old chili dish! Depending on my target audience I either omit the cayenne or substitute the Jalapeno for 4x more Habenero peppers and substitute crushed tomatos for a jar of Ghost Pepper salsa. If you shop around for the right broth & beans it makes an excellent gluten-free meal that lasts for days. The 4 serving batch (it serves well more than 4!) fits perfectly in my 5 quart crock.
my husband loves spicy stuff and this is his favorite dish for me to make. since he loves me i make it for him
My fiance is a real spice fiend. He just adores hot food, so I made this more for him than me, but I still loved it! It made the house smell so good, I couldn't wait to dig in! So easy to put together, and great for those days when you just don't have time for a hands on dinner recipe!
Delish...i modified to 6 servings & that was way too much for us.
All I can say is: I won the Chili Cook-Off! I did cut the cayenne in about half because I knew it would be too much for my coworkers. For myself I would use all of the cayenne.
I really love this chili recipe. By far the best I ever found and made. I am planning to make this chili this week for the seventh time since January of this year. My brother and sister keep requesting it as do some of my work colleagues. Now I follow the recipe with a couple of changes: I used 1 lb each of ground beef, lamb, pork and turkey. I also halved the cayenne pepper. Still was mighty hot. This is really a keeper and great comfort food. Freezes well too if any is left that is. Try it, it is so so so good.
I made it without bacon (roommate hates bacon) and used Red Savina pepper rather than Jalapeno. Added more beef to replace the bacon and it was awesome!
I made this recipe for my work tyson had a chill cook off contest and i won the contest with this recipe.
This is a great recipe for chili. I made this chili for a church competition and I had great reviews from the guys. However it was extremely too hot for most so I would suggest to cut the spices in half to one oz instead of two. Other than that I will make this my go to chili from now on.
At the last minute, I grabbed this chili recipe for a chili cook-off at work. I made it exactly as directed. It was easy peasy! Everybody loved it and out of 14 entries, it got the 2nd most votes. People said it was very good and spicy, but not obnoxiously hot. I'm going to make a pot for the family this weekend. Good stuff!
