  • Cream shortening, brown sugar and egg until fluffy.
  • Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt.
  • Mix with batter.
  • Add raisins and walnuts.
  • Drop by teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350° for 12 minutes.

  1. Cookies were way too crunchy at 12 minutes. Even too much at 10, Not the oven, I was baking all day long, these were the only ones that gave me grief.
     
  2. Love these cookies! I made them with gluten free all purpose cake flour, and nobody can tell they're not "normal" flour. I did cut back the sugar to 1/2 cup, just personal preference because I don't like it really sweet and the raisins provide sweetness, too.
