This was pretty good, but this didn't seem to take long enough for the oats to cook much. Made for ZWT4: Family Picks.

OK - This will be my ONLY go to French toast recipe from now on. We liked it exceptionally well reheated the second day - it got nice and extra crunchy. Love the texture and healthy too! Thanks

This is very yummy and the oatmeal adds a pleasing crunch to the toast. I used Splenda's brown sugar blend. With the addition of the sugar to the oats, it does take practice to get the bread cooked thru without burning but the end result is a very tasty dish. The dish was drizzled with some warmed maple syrup.

Yummy!! Will certainly try this one again. I gave this recipe a four, only because I haven't found the right bread (I tried a store bought Texas Toast) and had a hard time with the temperature and cooking. For taste a definite 5, now if I can just cook it correctly! Definitely do not use a high heat setting, I found the sugar in the coating burned easy, and the middle of the toast was soggy...all cooks error and I was using a camp stove, not so easy to control temp. I did like this as a camping recipe. It was my DH's favorite of our trip. I just mixed the dry ingredients at home and placed in a ziploc bag. Thank Nick's Mom, we really enjoyed it!!
