A dense, filling bread. Good for anyone who likes or needs to avoid yeast. Milk can be soured by adding 2 tbsp. vinegar.

  1. Mix flours, bran, sugar and soda.
  2. Make well in centre.
  3. Pour in sour milk and oil.
  4. Stir until moistened.
  5. Pour into greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Great recipe! I didn't have to change anything, worked perfectly. Have varied by using oats and also rye flour instead of bran and still great. Thank you.

I cooked it in a cast iron frying pan for 40 min in the oven and it was awesome! I also tried using quick oats instead of bran and that came out perfectly too. Nice to have a quick bread that is not sweet.
