Sarafish, you have helped me conquer my fear of "tater tots"! Having picked up a bag by accident, I wondered what the heck I was going to do with them. (Never tasted one before). DH laughed as I told him we were having "Tater Tot Casserole", but after tasting agreed with me that it was great- very tasty- and we would have it again! I made the recipe exactly as written. I will play with cutting it down next time, as it makes a lot, and we are only 2. Thanks for an easy and delicious recipe. :o)
This recipe was tasty, but I don't think I'm a big fan of all the celery. I added a can of drained green beans for flavor and texture. I also added some seasoning salt and extra half and half. Instead of mixing the tater tots in with the rest of the ingredients, I put them directly on top so they would crisp up the way I enjoy. I mixed my cheddar cheese in with the rest of the ingredients, as well. Next time, I'm using cream of mushroom soup and adding chopped mushrooms for additional flavor. Cooking the onion in olive oil was a nice touch. I used cream of chicken soup because I use that in my usual recipe with meat. It adds a lot of flavor. Also, I just layered the top with slices of American cheese.

I'm transitioning into vegetarian mode, and this doesn't work for me. It was just a mix of taters, soup and cheese to me. Not tasty at all. I think I'll stick to tater tots w/ ketchup. It's definitely healthier for you.
I've been eating this for every meal since last night! I love tater tots so this really couldn't go wrong for me. I did add extra spices and some chopped red bell pepper. And I didn't saute the veggies first because I like a little crunch. This is very versatile, quick and yummy! Went well with Vegetarian Italian sausages last night and is great with fried eggs for breakfast.
It was pretty good, added a lot of spices to make it taste less like a cheesy potato.
This was easy to make and pretty tasty. I wouldn't serve it to guests though, any meat-eater would be disappointed. My husband had been craving a veg tater tot casserole for a while and it definitely hit the spot. I will make this again for my family.
I liked this and it was easy to make, but it seemed a little bland to me. I added 1/2 t rosemary, a dash of dry mustard, a dash of red pepper flakes, and 1 T parsley - it still needs something, but I can't put my finger on it. More spices, definitely, but maybe lemon juice to make it tangy? Carrots? A handful of sunflower seeds for a crunch? Some TVP for a protein boost? I will make this again, but it needs some doctoring.
I changed the recipe up a bit. Used a bag of frozen onions and peppers (stir fry mix). Chopped those up, then sauted them. Added a cup of sour cream in addition to the soup since it didnt seem creamy enough. Also added a handful of fresh parsley and some red pepper flakes. Turned out great!! :)
