directions

  • Combine rice and water in a medium to large saucepan with a secure fitting lid (vents closed).
  • Bring to the boil (you will see bubbles forming around the lid - do NOT open the lid) and turn off the heat.
  • Leave to stand for about 20-25 minutes. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT open the lid at any time until after the 25 minutes is up.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork and serve immediately.

  1. Worked great!

  2. Did not work for me. Followed the directions EXACTLY. After 25 minutes I had a pot of water with rice sitting on the bottom. Epic fail.

  3. Worked for me! Thank you

  4. Easy. Brilliant, perfect rice.

  5. Not really a recipe, more of a method, but it really works! My rice came out perfectly, no boiling over or burning, and nice fluffy rice. Thanks for sharing your idea!

I'm a stay-at-home mum of 3 children. We have just had a new kitchen fitted in our home and I love experimenting with food and cooking. I never buy ready-made meals or cakes in the supermarket and instead I encourage my children to make food from scratch, mainly because I'm very concerned about food additives and their effect on our health. I hate recipes that call for ingredients like "can of tomato soup" or "bottled pasta sauce" as I get more satisfaction out of knowing that I can make it myself and I know exactly what ingredients I've added.
