I cook my rice in chicken broth for more flavor. For each cup of rice, I add 1 TBSP of Bacon Jam while it is cooking. This recipe is perfect as is but I like more flavor without taking too much away from this wonderful dish. Thanks for sharing!!
Very delicious :) I added 1 lb of ground beef and then sprinkled some cheese on top half way through.
Very yummy! I left out the onion due to personal preference and divided the recipe for a meal later, following the freezer directions. I only cooked for about 20 minutes in the toaster oven, and precooked the broccoli so it was tender-crisp. I ate this as a main dish.
Very good! I added some milk to thin the mixture down a little, (cooked) cubed chicken, and seasoning salt. Everyone, including my skeptical toddler, liked it! I baked it for 30 min in a 13x9 pan and it was bubbling away & starting to get golden on top.
I made this to go with our ham for Easter dinner and it was a hit. I used Uncle Ben's wild rice and added a couple of drops of chipotle hot sauce. Definitely a recipe I'll use again.
My sister made this for Christmas dinner and it was the BEST dish on the table. and she even used brown rice instead of white. it is a kepper!
We also added cajun seasoning on the 2nd go round, since the first batch was a tad bland. Maybe more cheese or extra sharp, since I didn't really taste it. We liked this recipe and the broccoli taste was there...but not overpowering.
I have been looking for a healthier alternative to the packaged "cheese & broccoli rice" that my son calls his favorite, and this is it. He was skeptical, but declared it a winner! To get more broccoli in and to get the texture he likes, I chopped the broccoli super fine in the food processor - and I used 3 small heads. I also added more cheese and made this with organic cream of chicken soup. Thank you, Jaynine, for a healthy recipe for our family!
