This is really 4.5 stars. I add a dash of cayenne pepper and use really sharp cheese. Don't over cook the rice. It makes a big, big difference.

DH really loved this, almost as much as his favorite, Pepsi Pork Roast(recipe#:13269). I used extra sharp cheddar and about a cup of Velveeta (cubed). For the rice, I used 2 boxes (approx 5 cups cooked)of Uncle Bens Wild Rice, with the seasoning packets, which added a lot of extra flavor. Served with Awesome Baked Pork Chops (recipe#:34499) which was also really delicious.

Going to give this a 5 because it was a great base, after reading reviews I did add the following: 2 oz of cheese (bringing the total to 10 oz) (we also used White Extra sharp cheddar cheese), 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. I did use cream of mushroom. Baked it for exactly what it said. Yum!

Good standard comfort food! I used Cream Soup Substitutes instead of cream of soup with good results. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I like how this was very easy to make but for some reason was a bit dry for my tastes. Maybe I should have added milk or water with the 2 soups? The taste was very good though...

I made this to go with our ham for Easter dinner and it was a hit. I used Uncle Ben's wild rice and added a couple of drops of chipotle hot sauce. Definitely a recipe I'll use again.

EXCELLENT!! my son LOVED broccoli casserole as a child and this Christmas asked me to make it and I was so touched because it brought back so many memories. I looked for a recipe similar to what I used to make and found this. EVERYONE LOVED IT!! I used 1 can of cream mushroom and 1 can of cream chicken and extra sharp cheddar. It seemed a little stiff so I added some milk until it had the consistency I wanted. Added a panko and asiago topping and my son ABSOLUTELY loved it as did everyone else at dinner. It was a real winner and I can't thank you enough for this wonderful recipe!!!

We also added cajun seasoning on the 2nd go round, since the first batch was a tad bland. Maybe more cheese or extra sharp, since I didn't really taste it. We liked this recipe and the broccoli taste was there...but not overpowering.

I have been looking for a healthier alternative to the packaged "cheese & broccoli rice" that my son calls his favorite, and this is it. He was skeptical, but declared it a winner! To get more broccoli in and to get the texture he likes, I chopped the broccoli super fine in the food processor - and I used 3 small heads. I also added more cheese and made this with organic cream of chicken soup. Thank you, Jaynine, for a healthy recipe for our family!

I cut this recipe in half and used leftover cooked brown rice. I questioned what you meant when you say to cook the onion "til done". I cooked mine til it was soft and slightly brown. Instead of precooking everything, I just mixed it all together and put it in the oven. You don't say weather or not to cover it, so I did. At the end of the cook time, I checked it and it was extremely soupy so I ended up adding about 1 1/2 more cups of rice and baked for about another 15 min. All in all, a great dish although it needed salt. I could not taste the onion.

Wonderful! I used cream of celery for the soups and a combination of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower for the broccoli. It was an easy change and very yummy! Can't wait to freeze some, too!

I put this together for our family of five and it was a big hit!!! I love it because it's easy to prepare and serve...and it goes a long way. I'm looking forward to freezing it. If that works, it will be a dream come true and a big time saver for me --- a busy Mom --- during the week. Thanks for this great recipe:)

I loved this recipe, though I didn't put in the onions, I did chop up some canned mushrooms and added them. Onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste...and I used extra sharp chedder for a little more flavor!! Hubby loved it!!!!

We loved this - the kids ate it too. After reading the reviews, I added salt and a little tabasco sauce, and it was very tasty. I also added chicken as another reviewer did - I browned small pieces with the onion, and it tasted great.
