Description from the web: Tarte au sirop d'erable - "This classic sweet of old Quebec has a smooth, rich filling, typically shallow and very sweet." I found this hand written recipe in my late MIL's collection. Who knows where it came from; she was Texas born & raised.

Love this pie. It's simple and so delicious. Everyone loves it. I know it's supposed to be shallow but I wanted a little more oomph so I increased all the ingredients by 50%. It came out perfectly, as always. It's delightful warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  1. Whisk water with flour until smooth; stir in syrup.
  2. Stir in egg.
  3. In a small heavy saucepan, cook over medium -low heat, stirring, until thick, 5-6 minutes.
  4. Add butter & stir till melted.
  5. Pour into baked pie crust.
  6. Let cool.
