  1. Simmer sugar, milk, butter, cocoa and salt over a low heat until well blended, then add rolled oats, chopped nuts, coconuts and vanilla and remove from heat.
  2. Beat mixture well until stiff, then drop in spoon-fuls onto greased baking sheet.
  3. Leave until set.
