- Combine shortening, eggs and milk.
- Add dry ingredients, mix well.
- Pour into hot waffle iron.
- Makes several waffles.
- Can be stored in refrigerator.
I think the ingredient list must have a typo in it...4 tsp of salt and no baking powder would not make for good waffles! We revised it to 4 tsp of baking powder and 1/4 tsp of salt and it seemed to work fine that way, as far as consistency, rising, etc. They are the thicker, chewier waffles that my family prefers, although the flavor was a bit bland (easily remedied there, though). I got 16 waffles (4 family size waffles of 4 squares each).
