This recipe was my grandmother's passed down to my father and then to me. It's a simple soup that is my favorite comfort food.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Dice potatoes and onions.
  2. Place in soup pot and just cover with water.
  3. Add butter.
  4. Boil until potatoes are tender but not too soft.
  5. Add tomatoes and juice.
  6. Reduce heat to low and cook for 15 minutes.
  7. Just before serving, stir in milk, salt and pepper.
  8. Serve with hot corn bread.

If you want to make the recipe a little richer, add cream instead of milk or add a dollop of sour cream to it when serving. Sometimes I will add some basil when I'm feeling fiesty.

Wonderful comfort food. Even my husband ate it (he doesn't care for tomato soup) Served with Hot Mexican Corn Bread #11012. Very filling and great go together.
