This is one of the many recipes from my grandmother's cookbook. She passed away in May of 2005 and I am recording her wonderful recipes for my family and the many generations that will follow. I hope you enjoy her recipes as much as we do. I have not made each one yet-so cooking time and servings may not be posted on some. Five Star Family Favorite !
- 453.59 g ground beef
- 9.85 ml salt
- 9.85 ml black pepper
- 236.59 ml tomato sauce
- 2 (793.78 g) canchopped stewed tomatoes
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 garlic, pods chopped
- 29.58 ml sugar
- 29.58 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 29.58 ml italian seasoning
- 3 bay leaves
- Brown the beef.
- Add the chopped veggies.
- Add tomato sauces & spices.
- Simmer 4 hours--the longer the better.
- Nanny always put it in her crock pot to simmer all day.
- Sometimes she added 1 T grape jam.
Let me say this was my first time cooking spaghetti, i'm more so of a baker and this sauce is great and flavorful I did add a T of straberry jam and simmer for 4 hrs ,great flavor, thanks nanny!! and thank you for posting this recipe. I wanted to ask do you drain the fat off your meat some do some don't? just asking.
Excellent sauce! We had it with linguine, and I used the leftovers over Spaghetti squash. We loved it both ways! I am going to make more and freeze it for when we feel like Sketti again!
Made this again and wanted to re-review. I left out the green pepper this time and we liked it alot. Very meay and flavorful! I served it over Penne pasta. Thanks!
