Let me say this was my first time cooking spaghetti, i'm more so of a baker and this sauce is great and flavorful I did add a T of straberry jam and simmer for 4 hrs ,great flavor, thanks nanny!! and thank you for posting this recipe. I wanted to ask do you drain the fat off your meat some do some don't? just asking.
Excellent sauce! We had it with linguine, and I used the leftovers over Spaghetti squash. We loved it both ways! I am going to make more and freeze it for when we feel like Sketti again!
Made this again and wanted to re-review. I left out the green pepper this time and we liked it alot. Very meay and flavorful! I served it over Penne pasta. Thanks!
Amazing! This was so good. My house smelled awesome while this was in the crock pot! So simple and easy. All I had to do later was cook some pasta and toss a salad and dinner was ready. We loved this very different sauce. Not too 'tomatoey' and very nicely seasoned. LOVE that it is fresh and not from a jar. I used home canned tomatoes and ground turkey rather than ground beef. That was the only change I made. Fantastic meal Stacey and Nanny!
I really enjoyed this sauce, although my husband thought it was on the sweet side. Still more robust and flavorful than store-bought (and almost as easy as just opening a jar)! Thanks for sharing Nanny's recipes--I plan on trying others if they are as tasty as this one was.
This is a fabulous spaghetti sauce. The sauce is very flavorful and hearty. I did add a little (1/4 cup) red wine and some German Reisling (dry, citrus white) wine. We will have this again very soon. It's also one of the easiest sauces I've made. It does require at least 2 1/2 hours simmering time for the flavors to meld together. We simmered the entire four hours and it was the best. A highly recommended recipe for spaghetti sauce. My family loved it! Thanks for sharing...Oh, and for the garlic I used five cloves.
