Nana's Favorite Hamburger Gravy

"Feel free to add your favorite seasonings such as Lawry's. This isn't the exact recipe but way back when I was a kid my mother who made a lovely tuna casserole [right.. 3 bottles of ketchup spaghetti queen] and my Grandfather had one heck of a fight over the Tuna Casserole or the Hamburger Gravy. Grandfather ate his Hamburger Gravy over saltines that night and Mom MADE me eat the tuna. Didn't help her mood I cried and wanted the Gravy too."

  1. this is a horrible recipe. it has no taste and needed an extraordinary amount of salt to make it taste like anything. I would not recommend that anyone make this. I signed up on this website because i thought that this was bad enough to warn people of its lack of flavor.

  2. The kids ate this for lunch today and told me I could fix it again. I did lighten it up by using 93 % lean ground beef and skim milk. I served this on hot biscuits. Made for *Healthy Choices ABC 2008* game

  3. This was so easy to make and very satisfying. We served this over biscuits. I cut the recipe in half, I only had 1 lb. of ground beef. I will be making this again for sure, Thanks dr. house!

  4. This recipe worked nicely but I made a few changes to suit the tastes of my family and I thought I would share them. I used red pepper in place of the green pepper. I added garlic when I put in the onion and pepper. I used beef broth instead of water and I added celery salt, cayenne pepper and a few tablespoons of worchestershire sauce. It was delicious and my husband has asked that it be put into "the rotation". I'm very pleased. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Oh, YUM! This is so good....an old-fashioned taste that I've been craving! This is very easy to make -- the directions are easy to follow. I omitted the green pepper because of kids, but I would prefer it for myself. I made the whole recipe to feed a troup of teenagers, and although my daughters were squeamish about the idea of eating such a thing, I served it over biscuits and I had NO LEFTOVERS! Thank you for sharing this keeper of a recipe! It's now on our rotation list, at the request of all my kids! (In fact, the boy practically inhaled this and then proceeded to call his father to brag.....LOL!) ;)

AND that is the end of this. If the phone doesn't ring? It's me. If you are looking to ask me a question? I'm not here. I won't answer. I do not assure you that the ingredients, amounts or even the directions in any recipe under my two accounts are correct due to the bad directional pointer in the database that is causing problems with the amounts or ingredients. I will also NOT assure you they are correct when the site claims they are fixed. Use at your own risk. They will be correct on my site. End of story. Sigh..
