Promised the kids spaghetti last night but didn't know we had no jarred sauce. Googled EASY spaghetti sauce recipe and was delighted to find this. I threw together some meatballs (ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, etc.) on the side, added a tiny bit of red balsamic vinegar and Wow! I loved it. My 15 year old asked for a little less HOT next time but I really liked it just the way it was. Thank you!
I've made this twice now, the last time doubling it for a Christmas Eve get-together. I use petite diced tomatoes and adjust sugar/red pepper to our tastes. I pair it with Basic Meatballs Basic Meatballs. It's all just so incredibly easy and delicious. Even my husband, who thinks "real" spaghetti sauce only comes in a jar, kept commenting on how good it was. This is now one of my favorite meals to make. Thanks for the recipe.
This was so simple and really saved my bacon. I forgot to get the marinara our local Italian restaurant sells at the grocery store, for spaghetti night. I did tweek it with a little olive oil and more seasonings! I think it turned out better than the stuff I usually buy! I didn't have any tomato paste but i just cooked it a little longer and it thickened just fine! A keeper!
I was searching for a recipe for easy pasta sauce and this did the trick! I was a bit skeptical when I saw the limited ingredients but figured I'd give a try. The only thing I did different was finely chop about 1/4 finely diced onion, 2 cloves of garlic and sautéed them in a bit of olive oil before adding the rest of the ingredients. It was so good that I decided to take a suggestion from the comments and made a batch of Basic Meatballs from this sight. Perfect!
I had a pot of sauce and the meatballs together in less than 45 minutes.
When dinner comes around tonight, all I have to do is cook the pasta, heat the sauce and serve with a salad.
Thanks HeidiSue for posting. The family wanted pasta in less than an hour instead of hours away so I needed a sauce that would not need an all day simmer. This simple sauce was a stick to the pasta type sauce. I made two batches and added mushrooms and olives to make it chunkier and more hearty. Also ditched the red pepper as the kids don't like it spicy at all. It was very good and on the table fast. Enjoy! ChefDLH
I love making this recipe when I need a quick dinner! Overall it tastes great and takes a mere half hour to make! Whenever I make this I use frozen meatballs as well. If you like this recipe I recommend you try the authors original spaghetti sauce recipe as well!
Made this sauce with a sausage meatball recipe and it was great. Going to make with regular meatballs tonight minus red pepper and plus some saute onions and garlic. So easy, can't go wrong.
Instead of using red pepper flakes I used spicy diced tomatoes and it was perfect
This is by far my favorite spaghetti sauce recipe that I have made! I much prefer this to jarred sauce! I didn't have any tomato paste on hand, so I made some by reducing tomato sauce, and I added 1/2 tsp of garlic powder and 1/2 tsp of onion powder, and left the red pepper flakes out completely (I can't do spicy). Everything else I followed exactly. It's delicious!
I've been trying to make a red sauce that my man loves for years now. I can't stand the jar stuff (which he doesn't mind) but my homemade attempts have never gotten past "It's pretty good." This one was finally a winner. I omitted the sugar altogether and added all the pepper flakes and a little minced garlic per our tastes. Wow. Not only did I love it (not that hard...) but he told me it was the best sauce he'd ever had. Thank. You. I didn't think it was possible. OR this easy for that matter.
