Sour cherries are high on my favorite fruit list, along with gooseberries and rhubarb. There's a pattern there! Sour!

Made this pie almost exactly except w/o the orange marmalade part. It's Amazing!!! You will lick the plate! I was thinking of posting the recipe and saw this was similar and thought I should at least rate it! Maybe someday I will try the marmalade, but I can't imagine it any better than it already is. Vanilla ice cream is a must! We used 5 cups of fresh sour cherries for a deep dish pie and have used about 10 cups for 3 small pies. The recipe i followed added 1tsp lemon juice to yhe filling. Also did not brush with the beaten egg i brushed the lattace crust with milk and sprinkled 1tbs of sugar over it. I baked at 425 for 15min and then reduced oven temp to 350 for 1hour and its good to put pue on a rimmed baking sheet some of the filling may bubble over. You will not regret this recipe, but will be addicted to making it every year as my family has, we pick berries from our neighbors tree!
