This was my ma's recipe passed on to me--don't know any other way to make it and I'm 58 years old. This is really an old-fashioned dish.

I luv this. Our recipe is a little different. It's a meal within itself, almost. We cook bacon until crisp. Boil a potato and cut up. Add asparagus (canned) and chopped boiled egg. mix all together and add the heated bacon/vinegar dressing.

  1. Wash the lettuce several times; drain.
  2. Clean and cut the onions into the lettuce.
  3. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Dressing: Heat dressing ingredients to boiling; pour over lettuce while boiling hot.
  5. Stir and mix well.
  6. Serve immediately.
