Beautiful and delicious! Couldn't be simpler, and it rose nicely and baked to a decoratively-rough, golden-brown crust in 45 minutes at 375. I had misgivings about melting that much butter on top, but it mostly soaked in. Since there is no oil or butter in the batter, it comes out nicely balanced. Easy enough to be a routine weekend treat, and great eating!
- 3 cups self rising flour or 4 cups Bisquick
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 12 ounces beer (bottle or can)
- 1⁄2 cup butter or 1⁄2 cup margarine, to spread across top
