This is really great hummous! It calls for much more tahini that I've used in the past and at first I thought the taste was overpowering. I think the flavours just needed time to meld, because it ended up tasting incredible. I did add about 2 Tbsp more of lemon juice than the recipe called for.
Yummmmmmm! I always meant to make my own hummous but never got around to it...until today when I overcooked some dried chickpeas I meant for something else. Now I need to head to the shops so I can get some pita bread to make chips for dipping :-)
So simple yet so delicious. I'll never buy store brand again!
OH MY!! This is the BEST recipe for hummus that I have come upon! Thank you SO much!!!!! My 1 year thanks you as well!
Kiss your mama for me. I've been searching for hummous this good since I first discovered it when I was living in London. Since coming back to the states I haven't been able to find hummous as good as it was there, in my university cafeteria of all places. I used to put it on EVERYTHING. I've made it twice in a week and am afraid my addiction to hummous is returning. I love it. Thank you. P.S. Everyone at work said it was some of the best they ever had too.
Miraklegirl, your recipe is splendid. I think this is a sephardic recipe of the now gone (from Lebanon) Lebanese Jewish community. I am also of Lebanese descent and really impressed with yours. The cumin and the large amount of olive oil is surprising but incredible in this recipe.
Awesome recipe!!! If you have a food processor, this recipe is a pleasure to make, simple, no mess, and great tasting. I prepared it the night before serving, to allow the ingredients to harmonize. Before serving, I drizzled olive oil, sprinkled paprika and finely chopped parsley. I served it with warm pita bread.
I have this saved in my cookbook to fix as my DH can't seem to find any here in the states that suits his taste. Oh, BTW..... According to my hubby (from Israel where this is a Very popular dish and originates from the middle east)says it is pronounced...hoom-us.....and since we are having English lessons....it is spelled H-U-M-M-U-S
OMG this is heaven. I have tried a ton of recipes before but none can top this one. Only thing I changed was to add more lemon juice because I like the way it tastes in hummous. I am gagging over the calories though, so am trying to figure out a way to keep it tasting this delish and decrease the oil....if you have any ideas let me know! Either way, I am still going to make this once a week and just eat small amounts for snacks instead of as a whole lunch/dinner. Thank you Miraklegirl!
