Since I'm cooking for only two, I cut the recipe down to 1 lb. of ground beef. I did, however, have to increase the sauce ingredients; used about 2/3 cup catsup and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. In addition to the celery and onions, I also added about 1/4 cup of green peppers. This so much better than those mixes and canned 'stuff'! The flavors is a 5 star, just think the amounts need adjusting a little! Thanks for sharing. Tagged for the Potluck Game!

This is a meaty sloppy joe, not much sauce, but great BBQ-style flavor. We didn't have any celery, but one of us doesn't usually like it anyway. Otherwise, made as instructed; it went together quickly and came out terrific. Great treat to take out to the patio on a spring evening! Thanks! Made for OZ/NZ swap, April 09.

TY Doug for a great sloppy joe recipe that was really easy to throw together. I always add brown sugar to my bbq recipes as the family really likes the added sweetness. I did omit the celery and onion per families request. Thanks~ Made for 123Hits.

Made for Went to the Market game. We enjoyed these sloppy joes with a few adjustments for next time.I would only use half the brown sugar, we found it a bit too sweet for our taste.Other than that, simple, quick and quite nice. :)

My nine-year old Daughter and I made this together; it was her first-time ever having a Sloppy Joe (which, because she does not like things that are messy, I had to call Manwich even though it's a terribly sexist name but is still better than "Saucy Meatwich"). We loved them. In the spirit of full disclosure, I will say that I fully intended on following the recipe exactly, BUT, as I added the browned beef to the sauce, I did decide to not add all of the beef because it seemed as if doing so would have resulted in WAY more beef than sauce. Other than that, we did as the recipe instructed, and were very pleased with the result. Thanks for posting this, and helping make my Daughter's first Sloppy Joe/Manwich/Saucy Meatwich Experience a great one.

I know this post was from 5 yrs ago. But just made these and they came out really good. A good idea for my 10 yr son 11th birthday party. Quick and easy and i dont have to cook for so many kids no dishes, no mess, paper plates and in a crockpot. Thanks for this delicious reciepe

Made as written for the FYC Tag Game - DH & I both love Sloppy Joes, I love using my crock pot & I wanted something easy for our dinner so we could nap before watching the Super Bowl on-line. There's only 2 of us, but I didn't let that stop me. I made the full amount & put 2/3 of it in 2 freezer containers for later use. We were greedy & full after dinner last night & look forward to making it happen again tonight. These Joes were yummy, Doug. Thx for sharing the recipe w/us.

I had all the ingredients except the mustard to do this recipe. I didnt change a thing except didnt use the mustard. Also I cooked on stove top. Only simmered for 20 minutes after the rest of the ingredients were added. This was excellent.
