This is an absolutely wonderful cake!I had to sample a piece, and as it was still pretty warm i was sure it wasnt at its best yet. But it was wonderful. Very moist very flavorful, just right. Very unique in that it uses a brown sugar frosting instead of the more common cream cheese type. Five stars for this. I love the heirloom recipes---:)--PeggyLynn

Excellent classic recipe for banana cake! The actual cake was exactly what I was lookin' for in a banana cake. Right texture and flavor. The recipe seemed a little on the sweet side for my taste so I reduced the sugar by a third and skipped the icing. Even then I felt it was a touch too sweet -I'll try half a cup of sugar next time. Watch out for the top of the cake too. You should probably slash the top or poke holes in it while it's baking to let the steam out otherwise it'll look like the San Andreas Fault.
