My Favorite Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

"I have tried several different versions of this recipe, but this is my favorite. I think the caraway and celery seed is what makes the difference. The recipe is from Taste of Home magazine and is credited to Karen Gorman."

Tweaks

 1. I lightly sauted the onion in 2 tbsp butter before adding 1 cup water + 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar + 2tbsp sugar + 1tsp salt + celery seed/caraway seed/coarse black pepper mixture__stirred the shredded red cabbage into mixture until coated. About halfway thru steaming the cabbage, I cut 2 red apples and 2 turkey kielbasa sasuages into chunks and layered chunks on top of cabbage to steam for the last half of cooking time! Deliciously sweet & savory!

I live in the Kansas City area and have many hobbies including cooking, reading and spending time with my husband and two children who are very active in sports now. I also have an eBay business which is a fun hobby that makes a little extra money! My interest in cooking focuses on making healthy dishes that are more satisfying than the higher fat and higher sugar versions. If I had a month off with no responsibilities, I would spend it at a luxury spa.
