Mushrooms in Cream Sauce - Pilzen in Sahnesosse

These mushrooms should be served with noodles or dumplings. I'm posting this German recipe for ZWT IV. Sounds wonderful!

  1. Clean mushrooms and slice in half if large. Pat dry. Fry bacon in a large pan until lightly browned. Remove from pan and reserve. Add the butter to the pan drippings. Add onions; sauté until lightly browned. Add mushrooms; cook until tender, stirring often. Stir in wine, salt, pepper, paprika, nutmeg, and mace. Cover frying pan and cook over low heat 15 minutes. Off the heat, add the cooked bacon, cream and lemon juice. Reheat until just warm. Do NOT let the mixture boil! Garnish with parsley and serve with noodles or dumplings.

Yum! I made these as directed and served as a side dish for a German dinner. These were simple to make, tasted great and were wonderful over Buttered Noodles With Caraway Seeds. Thanks cookiedog for a nice treat. Made by a fellow Unruly Under the Influence for ZWT6.

LOVED THEM! These mushrooms taste so good, and they are pretty as can be when plated. (The picture doesn't do them justice.) I used dry sherry for the white wine. This is a terrific recipe cookiedog, I will definitely be making them again so I can give them 5 stars. Made for ZWT, please see my rating system as I rate tougher than most.
