Our cooking club makes masses of these for the freezer at Christmas time.

Directions

  1. Saute onions and mushrooms in butter until the onions are clear and soft.
  2. Add cream cheese in chunks.
  3. Add next 4 ingredients.
  4. Stir until cheese melts.
  5. Cool.
  6. Remove crusts from bread.
  7. Roll each slice with a rolling pin.
  8. Spread with mushroom mixture.
  9. Roll like a jelly roll.
  10. Brush with butter.
  11. Freeze.
  12. To serve.
  13. Cut each roll in three pieces.
  14. Arrange on ungreased baking sheet.
  15. Bake at 400* for 10 to 15 minutes.

Great recipe. My mom makes these but uses heavy cream. I wanted to make a dairy free version since my daughter can't have dairy. I used this recipe as a base but substituted Tofutti Cream Cheese and tossed in a splash of white wine during the saute step. They were wonderful... Thanks!
