A nice sauce to accompany beef or vegetables

I made this for homemade burgers. And it was just right.

  1. Combine cornstarch and milk in a saucepan, whisking until smooth.
  2. Add 2 tbs butter, basil, salt& pepper.
  3. cover and bring to a boil.
  4. Uncover boil 1 minute stirring constantly.
  5. Reduce heat to low, add sour cream and cheese.
  6. Stir constantly until cheese melts and mixture is well blended.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Saute mushrooms in remaining 2 tbs butter till tender.
  9. Stir mushrooms into cheese sauce.
  10. Serve over beef or vegetables.
