I have made these cookies twice, but decreased the salt to 1 teaspoon because my instincts told me 2 would be too salty. One teaspoon gives, to me, a perfect taste. I also added chocolate chips and nuts. Rave reviews from all who ate them!

  1. Mix shortening and brown sugar.
  2. Add beaten egg, water and vanilla.
  3. Mix dry ingredients.
  4. Add to egg/shortening misture.
  5. Drop on greased cookie sheet Bake 375F 10mins.
  6. NOTE: Store cookies in tightly covered container.
