Directions

  1. Mix dry ingredients together.
  2. Beat sugar and margarine.
  3. Add eggs and beat.
  4. Add milk and vanilla.
  5. Add dry ingredients all at once and mix well.
  6. Add boiling water and beat for 3 minutes. Grease a 9 x 13 pan.
  7. Bake 350 for 1/2 hour.

the fact that this cake only had 1 Tbs of butter is amazing! it was a good cake better fresh. we used it for making cupcakes and it was better with frosting. but we served it the next day and the cake lost some of the deliciousness. still good and very easy to make, and pretty healthy too. thanks

A very dense, moist and rich cake. Was amazed that it only needed 1 tbs margarine and yet achieved this intense chocolate-taste. In my never-ending search of low-fat recipes this is certainly a gem. Will make it again for sure.
