My mother used to make this pickle. It is from Hyderabad, India.
- 1 onion, chopped finely
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 5 -6 big dried red chilies (with seeds)
- 3 teaspoons tamarind pulp
- 1⁄8-1⁄4 cup sesame seeds (aka "thili")
- 1⁄4 cup water
- Make a frying pan very hot; do not add oil.
- Turn down heat to medium.
- Add sesame seeds until they are a golden brown.
- In a blender, put the water, sesame seeds and rest of ingredients and mix till well- blended.
