Multi-Seed Loaf (Bread Machine)

"I bake my own bread and have been playing around with different mixtures. This is the best so far and tastes slightly nutty. Excellent for everyday and feels a bit healthier than the normal white loaf! It is a very easy recipe and takes a couple of minutes to prepare."

  • Add the ingredients into the bread-machine in the order they appear above, so water first and seeds last.(You can buy seed mixes but I make up my own by buying small bags of each seed and mixing roughly equal quantities of each together in a tupperware box).
  • Put the machine on the normal white bread cycle. Make sure the dough looks smooth after the first mixing stage - if not add flour or water as required.
  • Sit back and relax. In 3-4 hours (depending on your bread machine) you will have a delicious and healthy bread.

Questions & Replies

  1. Obviously I type terribly on this small keyboard. Have no idea where that "obamas" came from! My apologies for any confusion.

  2. What size loaf does this make? I.e, 1 lb or 1.5 Obama's? My machine has settings for both so size information would be helpful.

  3. Can you just make and rise in the bread machine then bake in the oven What would the steps be for that

  1. What an amazingly delicious recipe! Thank you very much for sharing. I didn't change anything. It is seriously PERFECT and so flavorful. I had to add a extra tbsp of water and that was it. PERFECT!!

  2. Excellent recipe. I used half white and half wholewheat and used 1 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tbs of maple syrup. I think I would toast the seeds a bit before adding next time.

  3. This bread recipe is awesome and I am so thrilled to have found one that bakes successfully in my bread machine! I normally bake a whole grain bread (from Vanilla and Bean) that has to bake in the oven and takes 2-90 minute rise times, so very time consuming. I took the seeds that I soaked overnight for that recipe....1/4 cup 10 grain cereal, 2 tablespoons quinoa, 2 tbsp flax seeds, 2 tbsp sunflower seeds, 2 tbsp thick rolled oats and added all of this from my oven bread recipe to the machine. I also added 3 tbsp cooked brown rice and I added 1 tbsp of brown sugar and then followed your recipe as listed. AWESOME results! Because of my own curiosity, I am trying your recipe again right now with a few more tweeks from the Vanilla and Bean recipe. Along with the above, I added 1 tbsp of pure maple syrup and switched the flour to 1 1/2 cup whole wheat to 1 1/2 white flour and used 1 1/3 cup water.?? THANK YOU for posting!

  4. Seriously delicious loaf. I upped the seed content to half a cup (more sunflower seeds than others), and increased water to 1.3 cups. And I always leave it for a few hours after mixing before baking. But otherwise everything else the same. Thanks for this great recipe!

  5. This really does have a great texture and flavour. So nice to wake up to fresh bread that taste as yummy as it smells! I added a bit more water in the first stage, and I wanna try with swapping the white and brown flour combination around, but this was an excellent first attempt at bread in many many years. Makes me wonder why it took me so long!
