This was excellent! Even my 9 year old liked it, minus the olive spread. I also made a few changes. I softened the garlic with some olive oil in a pan and let it cool before adding it to the olive mixture. Not big on raw garlic. I also subbed a good quality Black Forest Ham for the Mortadella. I didn't have any parsley. But these were just personal preference changes. Used store bought French bread. This would be great on a hot summer day. Will definitely be making this again. Thank you Little Bee! I made this sandwich and served it with French Onion Soup for a winter lunch with friends...it for 4 thumbs up!! I used a ciabatta loaf and everyone loved the 'crunch' factor of the loaf!
I made the olive salad the night before to allow the flavours to blend! YUMMY YUMMY!!!!!

I made the tapenade yesterday and then was able to throw this together quickly tonight after a busy day. After tearing out part of the inside of the bread I spread both sides with the olive tapenade then layered in salami, provolone, cooked deli ham, and mozzarella cheese. I then baked in a 350 degree oven until the cheese was gooey and hot. When it came out of the oven I layered in sliced tomatoes, thinly sliced onions, & romaine lettuce. This was so good! It really was a terrific sandwich hot, but it would be wonderful cold as well. I know what I am taking on my next picnic. Thank you for sharing your recipe! Yum yum! I made this sandwich, leaving out the meats. Loved it! For the olives I used some olive tapenade that I had made up using the green and kalamata olives. Great sandwich!
