These cookies are so good! They're nice and soft with a not too sweet taste. I just cut them in rounds and after baking, I sprinkled them with powdered sugar. Very easy recipe! I will make these again. Thanks Laura!

These are very good cookies for cutouts as they don't rise to much. Also I only used 1/2 cup milk. One batch I used Sunny Delight instead of milk, everybody loved them.

These were very soft cookies. My kids ate them even without the frosting! They stored well but didn't last long in our house. Thanks for posting.

This was very bland and not sweet at all. It was difficult to make because of the alternation of the wet and dry ingredients which were very difficult to mix. Also, the dough becomes unmanageable very quickly when taken out of the fridge.

These are the best cookies, ever. They were such a hit at home and at my daughters school. I have found a new sugar cookie recipe. I don't much care for the hard ones and these stayed soft. I used a smooth icing for the tops, but they were fine without it.

Fantastic Recipe! Thank you so much, I thoroughly impressed my husband. Came out like the Lofthouse Cookies my DH loves from the grocery store, only way better because of course, they're fresh! Big, "fluffy", not too sweet. I used 1 stick U/s butter and 1 stick salted (I don't like to use shortening). Great recipe. Use plenty of flour during rollout. I made mine on the thick side, and needed 11-12 minutes in the oven. Came out fantastic! Iced with a thick sugar/butter icing. Perfect!

These were good. My 5 year old and I made them for Valentines Day and sent them to school.

Sign in or create an accountI did not care for these at all. They tasted very bland. It was like eating plain flour. They had a very nice soft fluffy texture though. I even added extra sugar to the recipe like some reviewers said and it din't help much. Sorry, but I don't think I'll be making these again.

This is a really great sugar cookie recipe if you like soft, thick cookies. After reading the other comments I did add 1/2 cup of brown sugar also just to make them a liitle sweeter. The final result was a nice soft cookie with a nice, not overly sweet flavor. The dough itself was a little sticky even after several hours in the fridge, but plenty of flour on your hands and the counter took care of that. This will become my staple suger cookie recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Great recipe. Very much like the one that I make but a little softer. I use almond extract instead of vanilla and you wouldn't believe what a difference it makes, it's like a completely different recipe.

Certainly not your average harder sugar cookie, but not a bad thing. Not overly sweet, also not a bad thing. I used my Kitchenaid stand mixer for this, as I couldn't see myself doing this recipe by hand. Left overnight to chill. Soft dough, but workable with a well floured surface. I used sugar sprinkles on my shapes. Made for Every day Holiday Tag. :)

I really enjoy the texture of softer sugar cookies. I think the amount of sugar in the cookies is a perfect compliment to icing. Otherwise, these would be much too sweet, especially for kids. For those who do not like to use shortening, Earth Balance makes a non hydrogenated version that works equally well--at least in my experience.

I loved the cookie recipe but cut out cookies aren't my strong point. I made these today to practice. I ended up rolling 1/2 of the dough into balls and just making circles. :) I'll keep trying. Thanks so much for posting!

I made these cookies with my three children today. What a wonderful recipe to have since many recipes call for butter- which I don't always keep on hand . The cookies were soft and tender and were lovely with the additon of icing. Thank you for sharing your mother's recipe, it is now this mom's recipe!

These are delicious sugar cookies. They don't get very hard and they aren't too sweet which is good because then you can frost them without making them so sweet you can't eat them. I will most certainly be making these again!

Although these are sugar cookies, they aren't very sugary. Not much sweetness to them, at all. However, my 3 year old and his friends seemed to enjoy them (more, Mommy, more!) so I am giving this recipe 4 stars. I like that they aren't super hard.

These are the best sugar cookies I've ever made. Mine always turned out too sweet, or too hard, but these are so fluffy and balanced in flavor. I topped them with marshmallow fluff and colored sugar and everyone loved them.

I felt these cookies were way too dry and bland. Sorry but I was not a fan at all...
