The flavors of the mayonnaise, onion, artichokes and olives really create a delicious tasting sandwich. I've never been into sandwiches but this eats like a great meal. Thank you for posting this unique recipe.

Wow was this a great sandwich! I made a vegetarian version for my daughter and the original version for the rest of the family. Everyone loved it. I plan on making this again soon for game night with our extended family.

I loved it! Made as directed, but used a round Shepard's loaf, and added hot peppers to the mix. A little confused by the directions: use only the artichoke marinade? I added the artichokes, assuming a mistake in the directions. Wonderful. My DH didn't care for it, though. I could not understand how he could not LOVE it!

I made this sandwich last night for my husband's lunch today and he just called me and said he just finished "the best sandwich I ever made him". That is saying a lot since we have been married for 12 years. I have been making him various sandwiches over the last few months because he is in a classroom all day and has no refrigerator and no microwave. He said he discreetly sat on it before sitting down to eat with the guys and said he felt silly but knew he wouldn't have been able to wrap his mouth around it had he not sat on it. Not only did he absolutely love it, but he had several of his lunchmates ask if I had a sister or if I would adopt them. Thanks for making me look like a hero Julesong! I used a wheat french loaf, baby swiss for the cheese, and added a few pickle slices along with all ingredients as listed. I know this will be a lunchbox and picnic favorite because it keeps so well.

I don't know if I love this sandwich for the way it tastes or the stories that come out of serving it! Either way, it's a winner!

This was a great sandwich. It's similar to one that I make a lot in the winter, but the combination of deli meats and marinated artichokes are a lighter filling. The kids loved to "sit" on the sandwich and it easily served four of us and left a third for packed lunches the next day. We'll make this often!

This made a great summer time meal. The flavors weren't totally blended by the time I got to it, which I thought was great. I love being able to taste not only how things effect one another, but individual tastes. We could only find a wide oval shaped French bread but it worked well... to accomodate the shape of the buttocks, you know. DH sat on it since I was afraid that it would blow up if I sat on it. We all ate some and my kids were able to get their fill by picking what they wanted out of their wedges, so we had a great meal. :D Thanks for a recipe!

Julesong, you have HERO status in the Robson household :) We took this as our packed lunch to Seaworld. It was so yummy and filling and most of all fun to squash togeather before serving. Top marks! Thanks for sharing :)

Super yummy! I followed directions as written, used provolone cheese (and a sprinkle or two of parmesan on top of the artichokes/mayo) and vidalia onion instead of purple onion. This was perfect for one of those "hot summer nights" when I didn't feel like making much to eat and/or firing up the stove. Will be making this again.

One word- delicious!! The second one would be easy..........I will certainly be fixing this one again. I left out the turkey breast and substituted a french loaf, but it was still a wonderful sandwich. Much better than any you can purchase around here. Thanks!

Soooooo good. I added a bit more meat and cheese, and substituted a sourdough round, but kept everything else the same. I used provolone and muenster. Man, it was awesome. When my husband, his friend, and I were done with it there was only one slice left! ....My husband asked what we were having for lunch, so I told him, "A Sit Sandwich!" He asked, just like I was expecting, "What does that stand for?" And I replied, "Nothing! You make the sandwich, wrap it up, and before you eat it, you sit on it!" Hehehe, the faces were priceless. Thank you very much for sharing.

Julesong, I thought this sandwich was fantastic, that despite feeling a bit foolish while I sat on it. (My husband asked if I expected him to eat that...). I roughly chopped the artichoke hearts and olives together with some peperoncini in the food processor, and used just 2 T of the artichoke heart liquid and 2 T of mayo (next time I'll use 4 T of mayo). It all tasted so good between slabs of the 1-lb loaf of focaccia that I baked yesterday. Thanks for this great recipe! Reminds me of the one I saw Martha Stewart make on her show a while back, although it's hard to imagine perfect Martha sitting on *her* sandwich.

Very good, easy and amusing too! My kids were disgusted to see their father sit on this sandwich, but they want to sit on it next time! Thanks for the recipe!

Oh, this is good. I made it to take on the boat with us this weekend and we loved it. I used a loaf of round Hawaiian bread. Next time I think I will make it upside down though because the bottom of the bread was much smaller than the top (little messy). I used turkey, hard salami, swiss cheese and jalapeno cheese. Next time I think I will also add less artichoke juice. I used the 7 oz. jar and it was a bit too much liquid. This will be made often this summer. The possibilities are endless. (and the kids will love having to sit on it).

I made this sandwich to eat for lunch on the first day of our vacation. It was such fun to see my crazy BIL sit on the sandwich. We then enjoyed a delicious lunch! The sandwich is quite tasty...the flavors blend so nicely. This fit easily in our small cooler & was the perfect thing to take on a trip. I used sharp cheddar and provolone, substituting turkey ham for the turkey. This served four including two men who had two helpings with a small end left over. Thanks for this fun, flavorful, filling sandwich.

I assembled this sandwich (using cheddar and provolone cheese) early last Saturday morning to take along on our monthly 4 wheeler outing. Many people attend this event, each bringing his or her own lunch, and we all gather in a central location to eat and socialize. When lunchtime arrived, I proudly produced this big sandwich from the cooler and set it on the picnic table. I then turned around to grab something else and when I turned back to the sandwich my son was beginning to unwrap it!!! I yelled, NO!!! NOT YET!!! IT'S NOT DONE!!! (I was a little moody) My son, my husband and many others just looked at me like I was outta my mind!!! After all - it LOOKED done! I then marched my self over to the table, grabbed the sandwich, set it on the bench and SAT on it, just as directed! You should have heard the gasps and seen the look on the faces around me! It was a hoot! I'm still laughing! Thank so much Julesong not only for a GREAT lunch, but for a great laugh!!

I can't believe I forgot to review this! It is one of my favorite recipes on food.com. The dressing with all the juices mixed together is amazing! You have to let it sit and blend together! I also add pepperoncinis!
