I am not sure what a beef cutlet is so I used a thin top sirloin that I pounded to tenderize. I loved the flavors, tasted authentically German. The gravy was delicious - made me wish I had made some egg noodles as well. When my mother would make this recipe when I was young, she would use beef cube steaks (they are pre-tenderized by the butcher) and just the beef broth. My 11 yo daughter loved this as well, pickle and all. I really preferred your gravy. I think for next time, I will see if I can find these cube steaks around here.

This is exactly how I made my rouladen and I love love love it! I usually use mustard powder, but I'm definitely going to try the dijon mustard! I brown my rouladen deglaze with stock, then pop it in the slow cooker to finish.

Great easy to follow instructions! I'd been looking at Rouladen recipes for awhile and finally choose this one. Good Stuff! My wife thought it was just on the borderline of being a little salty. So, the next time, we decided that we'd use low-sodium bacon and cut back on the seasonings while prepping the rolls. I'm going to fix it for my mother when she visits at Christmas - now THAT should be the challenge.

What an awesome recipe. My first attempt at rouladen and it was so simple. Your directions are really clear and this is a super tasty recipe. Everyone loved this recipe, even a friend of mine who's mother is German. I think the Dijon mustard really adds to the flavour. Definite make again!
