This is wonderful and wonderfully easy for a baking impaired cook like me. It is a little different that some icings - goes on thin and sets up like fudge. Flavor is somewhat of a dark chocolate one (my personal favorite) - but if someone is looking for a milk chocolate fudge flavor = this might be too dark.

VERY easy ganche-like frosting, however, I found it to be a little sweet for my taste. Next time I would use a higher quality chocolate chip and a smaller amount of sugar. Still not bad, it just could have been better. I used this to frost Double Chocolate Brownies (#51225), which weren't that good, but the fudge-like texture of this frosting and the way it sort of seeps in to whatever you frost with it made them much better. Thanks for posting. This recipe is particularly nice because it is made from ingredients that are readily on-hand. I will probably be making this again.

I'm so glad I picked this frosting! I made it this morning in a wink, while I was still in my jammers. It was VERY much like my mom's, and those kids just scarfed that banana cake! And I got accolades..."Oh, Mrs. Petersen! This is SO good!" It's a lovely, fudgy frosting, and thank you. I vow never to buy a can of chocolate frosting ever again! (Of course - ths means you have to try my banana nut cake -HAHAHAHA!) No really, it was wonderful. And very easy.

Very good flavor and super easy to make! However, it is a bit grainy with the granulated sugar. I wonder if there is a way to get the sugar fully into solution?

Delicious! After reading Roosie's review, I opted to only use a half cup of sugar. I tasted it, and it was plenty sweet for me. I poured it on top of Coconut Cake with Coconut Syrup Coconut Cake with Coconut Syrup by Mirj which I filled with Danish-almond filling Danish - Almond Filling by MEAN CHEF. I'll be using this recipe again, but only using a half cup of sugar. Thank you for a great recipe.
