  1. This is very similar to a family recipe we make every Christmas. Our version uses shortening instead of butter, and increases ginger to 1 teaspoon. They are delicious with the perfect texture - chewy and crispy. Make sure not to over-bake or they are too hard. This is a great recipe to use for cookie exchanges or bake sales, because you can make dozens and dozens very easily.

I'm a girl who for the first time in her life, is missing frost and snow. I moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, following my Marine husband. I love cooking, and apparently my friends are impressed, but I constantly try to be better. I'm just starting to truly make recipes my own. <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?p=4076688"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/IWasAdoptedfall08.jpg" border="0" alt="PAC Fall 2008"></a> <img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/PACsticker-Adopted.jpg">
