  1. Grease a 9x13 pan and preheat oven to 350F Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy Add beaten egg, coffee/water and molasses.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Sift together dry ingredients and add to wet.
  4. Mix well Pour into pan and bake 25 minutes.
  5. While still warm sprinkle w/ confectionary sugar or glace with a thin icing.

All my family loved this bar!! I liked it because it was easy to make with ingredients in my pantry. It is delicious plain or with a lemony glaze, topped with a bit of candied ginger. I have to take a dessert to a local church lunch this week, this will be perfect! Thanks for a great recipe Aroostook!
