Real Devonshire Cream or clotted cream is a natural product, but in the 1951 Fannie Merritt Farmer Cookbook Little,Brown and Company Boston there is the following recipe.
- Mash cheese and heat in the cream.
- Beat until smooth.
- Serve with hot scones and raspberry jam or on fresh or stewed fruit. Anything you like Enjoy Ken.
This is the stuff I had with oat scones at the Scottish Lion Inn in New Hampshire years ago ..... a scone w/dome devonshire cream and a blob of orange marmalade is just utterly delicious. I'm still searching for the scone recipe in my things ..... if I find it I'll post it.
