Everybody loved these! I am thinking about using them for a catering event so I cooked them a couple hours ahead of time to see if they would stay crispy. They were crisp and delicious after sitting out for 3 hours or so. I did change up the seasoning a bit and added fresh garlic, a splash of my homemade basalmic marinade, paprika and flat leaf parsley. I also did a couple with the filling from recipe #52467 BLT bites and that also held up and was very tasty. I also just brushed 2 sheets rolled the whole thing and cut into 5 pieces. The possibilities are endless. Thanks so much for posting!

Cigar: Mini Chicken Cigar With Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce
Brand: Montecrisco
Shape: Salomonella
Wrapper: Dough
Filler: Long filler chicken / short filler parsley blend-- Cuban Sandwich
Binder: Butter
Upon lighting cigar, noticed heavy spice notes of pepper, cumin, and paprika. As burning progressed, hints of poultry and chili powder were detected. This cigar was extremely difficult to keep lit, especially when sweet and sour humidity was high. Harsh overtones in the smoke may indicate that this filler was plucked too early.
I'm now 2/3 down, and developing a nice buzz.
Final thoughts:
Some aging may benefit these cigars, but they are very prone to mold.

These were okay. My husband really liked them but aside from that everyone else seemed fairly neutral. Probably won't make them again since I have recipes for tastier things that require a little less trouble (phyllo is never any fun.)

Very nice recipe! I made the recipe for an appetizer night. This has a flavorful filling encased in a crunchy shell. We enjoyed the sweet & savory flavors. I was using smoked paprika so only used half of the cumin. The filling cooks down well & is dry, but I did notice the bottom phyllo discolored and had a red color from the chili powder & paprika. I didn't make the sauce. Instead I served with #169316 because of an abundance of fresh jalapenos & peaches on hand. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

These were very yummy! I couldn't stop eating them. Mine didn't turn out as pretty as in the picture IMO.

Yummy! I prepared these for a Bridal Shower on Saturday and they were devoured! Lots of requests for the recipe! To make it easier to work with the phyllo I just used 2 sheets at a time and rolled it up into one large log and sliced it into pieces of my desired length as Rachel does in the original recipe! They were perfect!

Loved these! It was my first time working with Phyllo dough and that was a bit tricky, but tasted great!

This was a really great recipe. I used cooking spray which also made this an easy recipe. And as if that was not enough, I also placed meat along the edge of the dough, rolled a few times, and then sliced the logs into cigars. I have done this the real way as well, so I can tell you that these shortcuts do not take away from this great recipe just the time you will use making it.

I didn't find this recipe hard at all. Takes a little time, but I got plenty of that these days! These yummy chicken rolls were so tasty. My friends came over to visit, and I had made some for DH and I, so I baked them up for us to have while visiting. Everyone grabbed for them like they were 100 dollar bills! DIpping sauce was great too! We used Chinese Duck sauce.

Time consuming but well worth it! The sauce just takes these to another level. I made the sauce & chicken mixture in the morning and refrigerated till I was ready to assemble. My guest could'nt get enough!

I had never worked with phyllo dough, and it was a lit tough (kind of flaky, probably needed extra butter to stick together). But the flavor was really great! Everyone loved it, and the sauce made it even better. Thanks!!

I made these chicken cigars yesterday at work and they were very yummy. I made a few changes; I didn't have poultry seasoning or grill seasoning so I just used some McCormicks Season-All and I didn't add the chili because kids were eating them. I also didn't make the sauce, we just used some mild sweet chili sauce and that was great. They were so quick and easy to make and would be a great finger food for parties. I must have made them double the recommended size because I only ended up with 32 cigars but they were still a good size. Thanks Sharlene for a yummy recipe.

I only made the chicken cigars as a trail run for an uncoming get together, the only change I made was I added in a little fresh garlic to the ground chicken mixture and a pinch of cayenne, thanks for sharing this great appetizer recipe, I look forward to making them again!...Kitten:)

These were very good :) Thanks for posting such a great recipe!! The plum sauce (even by itself) goes great with the "cigars".

These were enjoyed by all. Will most definiatly be made again. Very easy to make. As suggested by Marlene, I also brushed melted butter on one half of the recipe, and sprayed the other half (canola oil spray is what I had on hand). I did brush all the tops with butter and could not tell the difference. So next time I will spray all since it is alot faster and easier. Thank you for posting
