Mimi's Monster Cookies

"These are huge cookies that the kids will love to get their little hands on. They are great to take to picnics or gatherings. I used to take them to Sunday School picnics when my grandkids were little. I even did a double batch for a treat at AWANA. Adults like them, too. They have delicious flavor. You may notice that there is no flour in the recipe--that is correct--there is no flour. The oats bind it together."

  1. These were easy to make and taste very good. I made too batches. The first batch I made I used the 1/3 cup measure and the cookies came out very large. The second batch I used the 1/4 cup measure since I wanted to get more cookies. These came out smaller of course but still plenty large. Definitely would make these again. The dough did get a bit dry toward the end, I had choc. chips, m&m's and walnut pieces left but not other cookie dough to make it all stick. You can eat these goodies, put them on ice cream or add to your next batch of cookies. I did take some of the m&m's and just pushed them onto the cookies I had ready to go into the oven to use some of them up! LOL

  2. My boys really liked making these. They liked eating them even more. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I was told by my husband at the last minute I needed to make cookies for his work...I had a halloween bag of M&M's and decided to try this. I didn't have walnuts so I used chunky peanut butter. OH MY! Delicious! I made my cookies a bit smaller so I would have more and these are perfect! Thanks for adding a recipe for Monster Cookies that doesn't require corn syrup, which I never have on hand!

  4. Very good cookie! I had to use natural peanut butter(seems DH put most of ours in his veggie soup...don't ask), so I added some canola oil. I alo was just short of the correct amount of oats, so I did add a little flour. My second batch is in the oven and my 3 kids have almost polished off the the first batch. I did decide to make them a bit smaller, since the dough was softer(from the oil I added). I wasn't sure how much they'd spread, but they turned out nicely!

  5. I seet off in search of an unreviewed, non-photographed cookie recipe, and I am glad I found this one. I did not have to change a thing, and they turned out just the way I would expect Monster Cookies too. Large, soft and crispy. For easier handling, I suggest using an ice-cream scoop that has been sprayed with Pam, it worked very well. Thanks for posting Mimi, I will be checking our more of your recipes !!
