Mimi's Dirty Rice

"This dirty rice recipe came from my mom in 1996, and I don't have any idea where she got it. It can be adjusted for your tastes -- more or less of the "7 seasonings" to make it hotter. I usually make it and put it in stuffed peppers, but it could be a stand alone dish or side. We love it!"

  1. This was fantastic! I have family members who will not eat anything with chopped onion or pepper, so I had to substitute with onion powder and crushed red pepper, about 1tbsp each. Definitely a new favorite in my household!

  2. Not a bad quick meal that's super cheap too. I always had just bought the box of dirty rice in the store, but this was better, and I always have everything on hand to make it.

  3. Yum. We used regular rice, so it took a bit longer to cook, but the extra time was well worth it. Made for Football Pool 2009.

  4. This was very good. The spice mixture was nice and subtle on the tongue. I have had dirty rice before and didn't care for it, so I am very glad to find this recipe. Made for ZWT5.

  5. WOW! this was the best dirty rice recipe I have ever made. I did use homemade chicken and beef broth for I had them both on hand and thought mixing them together to make 2 cup would flavor the rice better and I was right. It was awesome! I will be making this again and trying sausage next time. I think it will be close to the taste of Bojangles dirty rice and I love Bojangles dirty rice :) Oh! and I used just a few flakes of crushed bay leaves in place of the leaves, I added them to the spices. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe!
