I made this according to the directions, but the potatoes were way overcooked. It was probably just me. I'll definitely try these again, just cook for less time than the recipe calls for.

We really enjoyed these. Not only do they taste wonderful, but they look so fancy too. And yet they are very quick and easy to make. I used dried herbs, using one teaspoon each of italian herbs and parsley. I liked the technique of using a spoon to keep from slicing all the way through the potato - I used a wooden spoon.
I am writing from Romania. Absolutely delicious! And so easy to make. I used thyme and it was excellent. Next time I think I will try rosemary. Thank you so much for sharing.

Absolutely wonderful! I didn't get the butter down between all of the slices, so some of the sections weren't flavored as well as I'd like them to be. Next time I'll use 1/2 the butter, then drizzle the remaining butter after the first cooking time so that it really has a chance to get down into the layers. I served these with Alfredo Shrimp Tilapia and creamed spinach for a restaurant quality meal at home. Thanks so much for posting a quick, easy, and deliciously elegant dish!

Delicious! I made these using fresh chives and they were wonderful. The only think I changed was to leave out the parmesan, and just use the cheddar. I used only 2 tbsp of butter, but (surprisingly)I think you could get away with using even less than that. I'll be making these again soon!
