One evening I returned from hospital where my husband had surgery. It was late and I needed some comfort chocolate and there were no bars left. I remember seeing this recipe and looking at it I realize I have all the ingredients to make this. So quickly the badder was made and put into a pan and in the microwave. I had serious doubts about this recipe. In five minutes I took the pan out. It was exactly 12 minutes after 11 PM. I was suppose to let it cool but I did not do this. After I had a small square I cut the rest into squares and by 11: 48 they were all gone, my nerves settled and I was headed to bed. The brownies were so moist, chewy and seriously dense with chocolate flavor and I had not one atom of guilt over eating the entire lot. I shared this with two of my friends and they are making them in the coming days. Thanks for this recipe.

IMO this recipe calls for WAYYYYYYY too much sugar. I used only 1/4 cup and it was fine. It's a nice quick recipe, but it was on the dry side and I only baked it for 4-1/2 min. I'll try adding a little milk next time. A generous amount of chocolate chips would make this AMAZING! I also added some grated orange zest to the batter which gave it a nice twist. Thanks for sharing!

I gave this recipe 4 stars. This is the first microwave brownie recipe I've tried ever. The batter is so light and the brownies are so light like a cake. My family loved these brownies! My hubby's only complaint was they weren't as chocolatey as a box mix. Overall I will so make this again for sure! Thank you for posting a great recipe! Christine

Easy and fabulous!! Made these when I ran out of time to make regular brownies for dessert and I had guests arriving. I got rave reviews and no-one believed they were microwaved. Thank you OB Nurse for making my meal perfect, this is a keeper!

My kids thought these were just super! I made the brownies as an after school snack and I can't believe how quick they are to make. I have a 1200W microwave so had to reduce the time to 3 1/2 min. I used an 8" round glass pie plate and was afraid is was going to overflow, but no worries, it didn't. Awesome recipe, thx for sharing!

Wow I really liked this!I have been having a crazy chocolate craving and made this since it was quick.I used a mixer for all the steps so mine came out pretty soft.I may try just mixing it by hand next time to see how the texture differs.I added some chocolate frosting and this was amazing.Four minutes and a half did it for me.

Fantastic quick chocolate fix! Made it as stated, except used mini bundt silicone pan, threw in a handful of choc chips and cooked for whole 5 minutes. What came out was moist and fudgy chocolatey and delicious! Thanks!

Last night I had a near miss with a train when driving home on a stormy night. Trembling I picked up the phone and called my friend over to share my experience. He knew right away that this called for chocolate, and he was right. Quickly I jumped onto the internet and googled 'Microwave chocolate brownie recipes' and found this recipe. I read the other Reviews and found Paolo Prestas review. It gave me a good time peroid for cooking this brownie, however, I think it took us a little bit longer, being my friend did not know how to cream butter and sugar. He obviously did not listen in his hospitality classes like I did. I watched it cook in the microwave with ambition, and realised something. There was a small circle in the middle that didn't rise as much as the rest of it. Contrary to professional belief microwaves may not cook from the inside out, as it did not appear this way. After we took it out of the microwave we let it cool as we tested it with a paper towel for fat content. we concluded that there was more fat around the outside of the brownie then the middle. This then confirmed to us that microwaves do infact cook from the middle outwards.
I would just like to thankyou for this recipe and specially a big thankyou to Paolo Presta for her story, and I hope your husband made a full recovery after his operation. I however, could not find any of your blogs.
In conclusion, we have however, infact had better.
P.s. I think it needs a bit more sugar, I disagree with the below reviews about halfing it 110%

These were pretty good! I reduced the sugar to 3/4 c and will probably use a little less next time. They were sweet. I increased the cocoa by about 1 Tb and added a dash of cinnamon. I microwaved them for the full 5 mins in a loaf pan with just cooking spray. Next time I want to try adding a little coffee and some chocolate chips. These brownies were a cross between brownie texture and cake texture.

Loved these. They were quick and easy to make. I followed the recipe exactly as written and these turned out wonderful. I cooked mine for 4 1/2 minutes. The only thing I did different was I didn't have a pie pan so used a 9x9 silicon pan and didn't add sugar to the pan after spraying with PAM. Will be making again.

Yuo know, I was skeptical but it worked and they were tasty. For being a short-cut recipe they were remarkably good. I will make them again.

Delicious! My husband & daughter really enjoyed these. Cooked at 500 W for 5 minutes. For a dinner party I put the dough in little glass custard dishes and decorated them with white icing and chocolate sprinkles and topped with whipped cream.
