If first had the at Ninfa's and loved it...and found the recipe.
- 3 green tomatoes
- 4 tomatillos
- 3 medium avocados
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 dash salt
- 1 dash coriander
- 2 jalapenos
- 1 1⁄2 cups sour cream
- In a blender-- blend avacados.
- In a medium pan boil tomatoes, tomatillas and garlic for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes add tomatoes, tomatillas, garlic and sour cream to blender and blend for 5 minutes or until creamy smooth.
This is one of those great sauces you get at the Mexican restaurants...This is great! I had to make some adjustments though.. I couldn't find green tomatoes so I increase the number of tomatillas. Also, the above recipe doesn't say when to add the jalapenos so I cut them open, seeded them and boiled along with the tomatoes & garlic, peeling the outer skin before I threw them in the blender. After blending, the sauce wasn't hot enough for me so I seeded a raw jalapeno, chopped fine, then blended into the sauce. PERFECT!!
