Excellent recipe and very authentic refried bean recipe. I have always like to season my pinto beans with onion and garlic, whether I made them from dried beans or used canned beans. And by the way bacon, lard or salt pork is a must for the right kind of flavor in this dish.

I love this stuff! I had 2 cups of Zr Frijoles (Mexican Beans) Frijoles (Mexican Beans) by Recipezaar, which I defrosted and reheated, to make a half recipe of this. There isn't nearly enough! Other than cutting the recipe in half, I didn't change anything, except to add some cilanto at the end. So very very good. I'm going to have to buy more pinto beans. Thank you very much for sharing this recipe.

The beans have a really great flavor, especially when made with lard (gives that extra-special touch). I used 2 cans of prepared pinto beans and the recipe was terrifically easy. Thanks for posting!
