directions

 • Preheat oven to 450ºF. Spread the sesame seeds on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove and cool.
 • Heat the honey and butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring until it bubbles and darkens somewhat, about 3 to 5 minutes.
 • Stir the toasted sesame seeds into honey mixture. Spread the mass onto a buttered baking sheet to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Cool until it is just warm and cut into finger-sized pieces. Cool completely and serve.
 • (For a tasty coating that will keep fingers less sticky, roll the candy in more toasted sesame seeds to coat after cutting it into pieces.).

 1. Delicious! Tastes like sesame snaps, a candy I grew up with (it may be one of our weird Canadian treats). This was so super easy, I'll make it anytime I'm jonesing because I always have those ingredients on hand. Thanks Nif!

 2. This was great! After reading UmmBinat's remark I reduced the butter, and it firmed up nicely with the creamy honey I used.
Thanks for this lovely treat!
Made for ZWT 7.

 3. I love the taste and like Cadillacgirl think this may be a Canadian sweet as well as I grew up eating something similar that came packaged from the stores. Mine turned out too soft. It seemed to me there was way to much honey. I used creamed honey and did simmer for the full amount of time but it just slightly turned darker so I expect it would work better to simmer longer I was nervous to do that though go over the time and burn it. I didn't know how dark it was supposed to be but Cadillacgirl told me she cooked her honey quite a bit. I may try this again as the taste was what I love without the corn syrup of the store bought version! Made for ZWT7 Africa, for my team, Food.Commandos

I love great food and I particularly like trying cuisines new to me! Although I don't prepare as much food as I used to, creating in my kitchen is still one of my favourite things to do. Enjoy!
