  • Mix crumbs and milk and let soften. Add egg, salt, pepper, onion, nutmeg, and meat. Blend gently but well, and form into small (1") balls. Saute in oil until brown. Remove from pan and set aside. Discard oil. Make sauce in same pan. Melt shortening; blend in flour. Cook slightly but do not let brown. Stir in broth and cream. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and satiny. Add salt and pepper. Stir in dill. Add meatballs and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve with hot noodles.
