I used the same ingredients, except for the oats. I used ritz crackers and made it into a meatloaf rather then meatballs. Fantastic ! I label it as sloppy joe meatloaf in my recipe box.
I made these last night and they were great. I halved the meatball recipe but left the sauce the same, as I like lots of sauce. Also, I halved the sugar - I find most American recipes very sweet to my British palate. And I thinned it out with beef stock. Thanks Earnhardt.
Everyone in my family, including myself loved this recipe. Absolutely delicious. I would love to recommend this recipe to everyone else on this board and to try it at least once, or twice. Maybe even more. My family asked me to make this again, and I can't disappoint them.
These were very easy to prepare, but not quite what I expected. I felt they could have used quite a bit more sauce and the cooking time was a bit too long, as they overcooked somewhat (sauce became very thick and sticky- like tomato jam). Also, the flavor of ketchup was too strong in the sauce. I would also estimate the servings on this to be closer to 10-12 overall (this makes a LOT of meatballs). When I make these again, I will double the sauce, thin it just a bit, add a bit more mustard or garlic for extra flavor, and cook them for a shorter amount of time. Thanks for posting!
