I don't usually change recipes but did so with this one only because I had to use what was on hand. I used a jar of spaghetti sauce instead of the pizza sauce and it turned out great! The pepperoni makes this dish. It's summer so I just cooked it all up on the stovetop. Yum! I'll make this again.

I added sliced olives and mushrooms. I also used whole wheat sprial noodles instead of macaroni noodles this may be why it turned out very dry. It was not bad, I would just recommend using another can of sauce which I will be trying next time I make it.

This is a hard review for me. I liked it, dh didn't. I think we would have enjoyed it much better with spaghetti noodles instead of the macaroni's. One problem was that my ground beef came from Costco and it was dense. I do not hold that against the recipe but I would not recommend using too lean of a ground beef. Every now and then, we need a little fat. Chosen for PAC Fall 2006. Thank you kzbhansen and so sorry it didn't work out for us because it was super easy! I may try it sometime with the spaghetti noodles.

We loved this! So very, very easy to make, yet the subtle difference of the pizza sauce instead of the usual Italian spaghetti sauce really made the children sing! (I did add a 4 oz. can of drained, sliced button mushrooms, because we love mushrooms on our pizza. Also I had to halve the pepperoni because I didn't have the full amount on-hand.) I also put 1/2 the shredded cheese in a layer on top in stead of mixed in. This is a very good alternative to the usual Italian macaroni-beef casserole, and a new keeper for me! :)

Flavoursome, very quick to make and an ideal dish to put in the freezer to bring out on those numerous midweek evenings when time is short! I added 4 cloves of chopped garlic and a diced red pepper but otherwise made this to the recipe. Thanks!
